Tip of the Month
Taking 3 putts on a green is wasting a shot on that hole. The reasons for 3-puttings are first, a lack of distance control and second, the inability to make short putts. To gain good distance control, place several balls in the middle of your practice green. Go around in a circle and hit putts so that they just stop on the edge of the fringe. By going in a circle, you will test yourself on different distances and slopes. Practice 3-foot putts by drilling balls into the centre of the cup one after the other.
Rule of the Month
During a match Rosie retrieves Karen?s ball from casual water on the green and places it in the correct area. If Karen plays it from that position will she be penalised? Yes. Rule number 20. 20-3A. When a ball is to be replaced, the replacement must be by the player, her partner or the person who lifted or moved it. Had the caddie performed the marking and lifting of her ball then replacing it would have been in order.
